I only used two paint colors for this: indigo and brown madder. They complement each other nicely, and are the two pigments I've found that seem to have the widest range of values from very light to nearly black. I like the textures it was possible to get from the collaged masa. The title is from a favorite old hymn of my dad's.
I have enjoyed drawing since childhood, and have been painting in watercolour since 2002. I really enjoy the transparency of watercolour, and like to experiment with combining watercolour with other media. In the past few years, I have also been working in pastel, and mixed media. In whatever I do, my desire is point others to the beauty and wonder that our Creator has given us to enjoy, that they may come to see His beauty and stand in awe of Him!

Thank you so much, Yevgenia! If anyone else would like the hymn lyrics, I can email them to you, or you can google "Higher Ground" lyrics.

Wonderful painting, Lynn. Very true about the range of values of indigo and brown madder, I had no idea. Also, I think it would be great to know the words of the hymn that gave this painting its name! All the best, and thanks for your kind comments on my work, Yevgenia
